I did pretty much what I wanted to do today. I slept in this morning and lazed around watching NASCAR and baseball most of the afternoon. I didnít even realize how tired I still was until I stopped. I didnít know I had a headache until I turned off the TV. It was probably a little louder than it needed to be, but itís hard to watch a race without wanting to hear the whine of the engines.

Mixed messages of spring.

What I didnít do was get any work done, or do my taxes. With the tax deadline a week away, I had planned to take some time to figure what I owed (or, less likely, what my refund might be). But I never got around to it, and letís face it. The deadline is a week away. Since when have I been all that anxious a week before a deadline? (Especially when I probably will owe the government some money.)

Stuff

The Giants are having a hard time putting it all together so far this season. As soon as the hitters give them a lead, the pitchers give it away. Thatís how it seemed to be going again today against the Braves, after Andruw Jones tagged Jason Schmidt for a three-run, game-tying homer in the sixth. The Braves a one-run lead into the bottom of the ninth, but Lance Niekro stepped up with a massive home to tie the game. Then the Giants scratched out another run, which scored on Randy Winnís clutch single. So even though they havenít played the perfect game yet, todayís 6-5 win keeps them in first place in their division one week into the season.
