I’m going to complain again. Just so you know. But I’ll try to keep it brief.

When I got up this morning, I thought I was feeling better. Either the pain in my hand and wrist had eased, or I’d just grown used to it. I didn’t really care which was the case. I just wanted to feel better.

Of course, I tried to do too much. That’s what you do when you think you’re on the mend. You try to make up for time lost while you were feeling down. The cost in this case was pretty high, because by the end of the day I was hurting badly again.

More than one person has suggested that my symptoms sound like carpal tunnel syndrome. Tomorrow morning I’m off to the pharmacy to pick up a wrist splint. If that doesn’t help, I’ll have to reconsider my options. Obviously, that’s the last thing I want to do. No doctors, thanks.

In general, aside from the pain in my hand, I had a crummy day overall. My allergies have been acting up again. It’s been hot and windy, and my head feels stuffed with glue. Some of it is oozing down my throat and making me sick to my stomach. I’m not a lot of fun to be around.

Smoke in the west.

When I got back from my morning errands, I noticed the plume of smoke rising from the hills to the west. It looked as if someone had dropped a bomb on Sebastopol. Later in the afternoon, the smoke spread and then dissipated, but there was a haze in the air all day. It probably didn’t help the way I was feeling.

Stuff

What I need to remind myself is not to be fooled again. Even if I should wake up tomorrow morning feeling fine (unlikely, but possible), I need to go get that splint. Caution is the better part of foolish bravado. Or laziness, for that matter.
